*Dementia is diagnosed mainly in the elderly population. In Singapore, about 5.2% of people over the age of 65 suffer from Dementia. Dementia affects the brain, causing brain cells to die at a faster rate than normal. As a result, the cognitive (mental) abilities of the person with dementia declines, leading to failing memory, deterioration of intellectual function and personality changes.
